General
E-mail support is one of the useful and a powerful features of the pbxnsip PBX. Now-a-days, even though may PBXes support email support, there isn't much flexibility in operations. But pbxnsip PBX offers a host of options to send emails and customize the content of the e-mail by the customer.
This section explains the system wide (top level) email configuration for the PBX.
From Address: This field defines what should be the 'from' address of the e-mail when the PBX sends out emails. You can use names like voicemail@your-company.com, officepbx@your-company.com, pbxautomailer@your-company.com etc.
Account: Here you provide the e-mail account for the SMTP server. Generally, this is same as the "From Address"
Password: This is the password for the e-mail account
Password(repeat): Confirmation for the password. As a standard practice, make sure that you have the correct password set the the "Password" field.
SMTP Server: This is your SMTP outgoing mail server.
Enable TLS: To use TLS or not to connect to the mail server. Default is "Yes"
Use same settings for all domains: This setting dictates whether each domain can have their own e-mail setting. The default is "Yes". If you are using a hosted PBX service, generally, you will set this to "no" and use the domain level e-mail setting.
Messages
On important events, the PBX will attempt to send a notification message to a configured e-mail accounts. This is generally to the administrator account(s). You can also choose to get e-mail notifications on a variety of cases. the below picture shows the different cases where PBX can send out e-mail notifications.
The fields are self-explanatory.
Texts
In this section you will see texts for various e-mails sent out by the PBX. The easy thing to do is use the "Default" templates for the e-mails. If you want your own format, then choose "Custom". When you select the "Custom", the existing template will be shown. You can edit the template right on this web page, if you like.
Again, the fields are self explanatory.
